Foursquare is a location based social network that incorporates gaming elements.
You can share your location with friends by “checking in” via a smartphone app or by text message. By checking in a certain number of times, or in different locations, you can collect virtual badges.
Points are awarded for checking in at various venues.. foursquare helps you meet up with your friends and lets you earn points and unlock badges for discovering new places, doing new things and meeting new people. The company was founded by Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai and is based in New York City.
Foursquare’s applications are available for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile

Personally I like 4square, however I would like a feature to take photo’s(GEO tagged of course) and post on my locations around town.

It’s mostly about sharing ur opinion of a certain venue e.g. restaurant or retail etc that you’ve been (check in). Get suggestions and heads up of places to go.
